The Unveiling of Grumpys Pallete Project

Remeber the mobile leaning tower of palletes? Well it has been Grumpyfied into a greenhouse!

He finished it a few days ago and layed out the soil for planting today. I planted two types of beans, 3 types of tomatoes,  two types of lettuce, a winter squash, and melon. Hopefully they will be sprouting in a few days. The plot we sowed Labor Day weekend is doing beautifully.

The seeds we planted started to germinate within two days. We have had a set back in the established garden... Grasshoppers have been devoring our okra plants.

One of the offenders is caught in the act.

Very little left to this leaf.

A serious battle was fought earlier this week. The grasshoppers had several casualties.

Battle ground grave yard.

Usually our yard is over run with birds, but due to recent weather they haven't been visiting us as often. To entice them back, we started to leave seed out for them. Our payment has been accepted and now we have flying mercenaires decimating the grasshopper population in our garden. This Makes me happy since I do not have to get as much of their innards on me when I tend the garden now.

Our other veggitables are doing wonderfully.... Well most of them. Our carrots were stunted.

We let them grow well past their 70 day mark.
The biggest was maybe 2" long

I think this may have happened because Grumpy was the one that planted them and he may have packed the soil to tight for them to grow properly. They still tasted good though.

Our next batch of carrots will be planted in pots to try and avoid the dirt being to tightly packed. There are still more herbs and vegitables that I would like to plant in Grumpys greenhouse before it starts to get cold. More varity means a happier home!
